Almost afraid to post. I have ridden Nina for the last three days doing a little trot work. Very little, but more each day. Yesterday we even trotted some poles, which was probably not a good idea but her attitude improved.
Yes, not limping but a less than endearing attitude. Still, it is progress and we are actually starting back to work before the dead of winter.

Fingers quietly crossed for continued progress.
ReplyDeleteSounds good. I suppose it is going to take her foot long time to heal, but she seems to be doing pretty well. :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how Nina was doing! Good news, hope she continues to progress. My mare is STILL off because of the popped splint. It has been 5 weeks. She is better, but not all the way yet. I will give it a couple more weeks ...
ReplyDeleteSplints are painful, is she still lame or just healing now?
ReplyDeleteShe is still a little off on that leg, but nothing like she was (head-bobbing) three weeks prior. So yes she is lame, but just slightly. The splint is on the outside of the front leg, couple of inches below the knee. It bothers her when I touch it firmly. Trainer said they can take a while to stop hurting while they "set." It's just frustrating, as you well know:) Believe me, our riding progress will NOT benefit from her being off all this time. She is best-behaved when in steady work, and a jumping program.
