Here is a nice eventing video to put a smile on your face for the day.
Watching this I have two thoughts....
One - how could anyone NOT want to do this? and
Two - what do the horses think when they are asked to jump a skinny in the middle of a great big field? lol
This video came from Eventing Nation.
Except for the ouch parts--it must feel like flying for the riders. :)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! My heart was in my throat a few times watching that video! What tremendous shape those horses and riders are in.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there was an alternate route through that one water complex... let me rephrase: I wonder what the alternate route was like. The out seems like it got a fair few people.
ReplyDeleteGreat video though, the music suits it perfectly!
Kate, I thought the distances on the out looked weird. Even the horse that jumped thru had a problem with where to put his feet. I wonder if it was just too much speed, I tried to visualize it starting with a trot, drop down and slow canter out, but the step out was pretty good size to be going too slow. Obviously it rode a lot harder than it looked.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I've rehabbed 2 off-the-track TBs in my life and they were both AMAZING horses... and despite active racing careers, they both ended up as sound as can be. They created a special place in my heart for all TBs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following along at Tekes Tally-Ho!
Barb, I agree with you about the distances at the water but to me it looked as if the horses couldn't properly see the top lip of the bank - there was only a skinny rail and it was blending in with the bank so I wonder if they just didn't see the height in time...Lots of very classy jumping otherwise :-)
